CESMA–UEMS European Examination
The UEMS European Examination in Angiology/Vascular Medicine provides a European-level assessment of professional knowledge and clinical competence in Angiology/Vascular Medicine.
The examination is organised under the responsibility of the UEMS Division of Angiology/Vascular Medicine, through the Board for the European Examination in Angiology/Vascular Medicine (EBEAVM).
Successful candidates are awarded the UEMS European Diploma in Angiology/Vascular Medicine.
The examination is designed in accordance with the quality principles established by UEMS and CESMA and is based on the European Training Requirements (ETR) for Angiology/Vascular Medicine.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates may apply if they fulfil at least one of the eligibility pathways below.
Route 1 — Specialist in Angiology/Vascular Medicine
Applicants who hold recognised specialist status in Angiology/Vascular Medicine in a European country, or an equivalent specialist qualification obtained outside Europe, are eligible to apply.
Route 2 — Specialist in another medical specialty with recognised Angiology/Vascular Medicine training
Applicants who are specialists in another medical specialty may apply if they have completed at least three years of full-time, documented training in Angiology/Vascular Medicine within a recognised/accredited Angiology/Vascular Medicine training centre or department, in accordance with the requirements established by the UEMS Division of Angiology/Vascular Medicine.
Route 3 — European Fellowship in Angiology/Vascular Medicine
Applicants holding a recognised qualification in another medical specialty may apply if they have successfully completed the European Fellowship in Angiology/Vascular Medicine.
Route 4 — European Master in Angiology/Vascular Medicine
Applicants holding a recognised qualification in another medical specialty may apply if they have successfully completed the European Master in Angiology/Vascular Medicine.

Applications are submitted directly to the UEMS Division of Angiology/Vascular Medicine.
Apply for the examination
Before submitting an application, candidates should carefully review the eligibility criteria and ensure that they can provide the required supporting documentation.
Important: At least one of the four eligibility pathways must apply in order for an application to be considered.
The Examination Board reserves the right to verify the eligibility and supporting documentation submitted by each applicant.
Application Requirements
Applications must be submitted through the official application process of the UEMS Division of Angiology/Vascular Medicine.
Applicants must provide documentation demonstrating the eligibility pathway under which they are applying.
Depending on the route selected, this may include:
- Certificate or official document confirming specialist status in Angiology/Vascular Medicine;
- European Master in Angiology/Vascular Medicine diploma;
- Certificate confirming completion of the European Fellowship in Angiology/Vascular Medicine;
- Certificates documenting at least three years of full-time training in a recognised Angiology/Vascular Medicine Training Centre;
- Curriculum vitae, where required.
For candidates applying on the basis of three years of training, the documentation should clearly demonstrate the duration, continuity and location of the training.
The Examination Board may request additional documentation where necessary to establish eligibility.
Examination Fee
The examination registration fee is: €300
Payment instructions will be provided to eligible applicants as part of the application process.
Applicants should not make a payment until they have received the official payment instructions from the UEMS Division of Angiology/Vascular Medicine.
