Accreditation of European Training Centres

The UEMS Division of Angiology and Vascular Medicine accredits centres that demonstrate excellence in specialist training, clinical practice, research, and professional development. Accreditation Criteria

To be considered for accreditation, centres should demonstrate :
Clinical Excellence

Provision of comprehensive care for patients with arterial, venous, lymphatic, and microvascular diseases, supported by appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic facilities.

Structured Training Programme

A formal training programme aligned with the European Training Requirements (ETR), including defined learning objectives, supervision, and regular assessment of trainees.

Qualified Faculty

Availability of experienced vascular medicine specialists actively involved in education, mentorship, and professional development.

Educational Activity

Commitment to teaching activities, continuous medical education, scientific meetings, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Research and Innovation

Participation in clinical research, academic activities, registries, publications, or projects contributing to the advancement of vascular medicine.

European Commitment

 Who Can Apply?

Applications are welcomed from hospitals, university departments, academic medical centres, and specialised vascular institutions providing structured training in Angiology and Vascular Medicine within Europe.

Accreditation Process

Submission of Application

The institution submits an accreditation application together with supporting documentation describing its clinical activities, educational programme, faculty, facilities, and research activities.

Eligibility Review

The Accreditation Committee reviews the application to ensure that the centre meets the minimum requirements for evaluation.

Expert Assessment

An expert panel appointed by the UEMS Division evaluates the centre against the accreditation criteria and may request additional information or clarification.

Site Visit

Where appropriate, a site visit may be conducted by appointed reviewers to assess the training environment, clinical facilities, governance structure, and educational activities

Accreditation Decision

Following evaluation, the Accreditation Committee submits its recommendation to the UEMS Division Board, which grants accreditation status.

Continuous Quality Improvement

Accredited Centres are expected to maintain the required standards and provide periodic updates on their educational and clinical activities.
